If this first week of January is any indicator of how the rest of the year is going to go for CYA, things are really, really looking up.
During the last week of 2008, a year riddled with a few disappointments and a lot of big changes, we recieved our own New Year's fireworks: our letters patent. Simply put: we are a legally incorporated organization. We are official. And we, as an organization and membership as a whole, are awesome.
Today marked another step in what is quickly become a whirlwind dance of activity within the organization: we now have a bank account under the organizations name. This means we can now receive the grant from the Rotary Club that was simply waiting for this development. That's right everyone, we have funding. It's a little bit to start...but remember: this is only the first week...we still have 51 more to go.
It's interesting looking back on the last 6 months. We've gone from a group of 15 old friends from a previous organization to a much larger, much more coordinated, and finally, incorporated group that is well on the way to creating real, tangible change in this proud nation we live in.
Darn good start, 2009. Glad to see you.
